Master Van Deaux has always been somewhat troubled, and written off by most people he knows except his little sister. He is quite vulnerable, and generally responds however people lead him to, rather than how he would like to.

Miss D'Alessio is caring but not naive. She always has a plan, and won't be taken a lend of. She sees something good amongst the mess that Master Van Deaux is, and pursues him, at first only wanting friendship, however, her feelings grow stronger and stronger as she gets more caught up into the troubled young man.

Miss Allistar is irresistible to most males, with her beautiful looks and husky voice, but Master Van Deaux has never really noticed her in that way before. Miss Allistar, based on the knowledge that whoever she wants she gets, decides that it would be fun to pursue the beautiful 'lost cause' of senior year, Master Van Deaux, but soon learns that he is very close to Miss D'Alessio, a girl whom she has never liked.

She tries to seduce him, flirting and all of the proven rules of attraction, but he seems oblivious. Eventually, she plays on his vulnerability, and tells him that Miss D'Alessio has only became close to him to make her old boyfriend jealous. He is extremely hurt, and realises he is in love with her from the sense of loss he feels, and so begins to date Miss Allistar, who was there for him in his 'time of need'.

Miss D'Alessio is distraught and confused, until she finds out from Master Van Deaux's sister - and Miss Allistar's best friend - who tells her to get back at her friend for being cruel to her brother, what she said.

Miss D'Alessio sets out to get her back, convincing Master Van Deaux to meet her. She explains what happened, and he feels terrible, immediately breaking up with Miss Allistar. The pair are together, as it should have been, and Miss D'Alessio 'accidentally' spills her story to a girl famed for having a big mouth, who spreads the scandal around the university. Leaving Miss Allistar with a lot of insults and dirty looks to deal with.
